HALO FORGE MAPS

 MLG NEXUS 

Nexus is my crowning achievement in Halo Reach Forge. It was built for the highest competitive play, and in 2011, was brought in by Major League Gaming for use in Professional tournament play.

Since then, it has been in Halo Reach Hardcore playlist for nearly 10 years, played by millions of players around the world.

Nexus was originally built to play specific team game-types: Capture the Flag and Neutral Bomb. Other great game-types are Oddball and King of the Hill as well, which went on to be the featured mode.

The Base design was key to making these game-types flourish. The 2nd floor of the Base provides key elevation to get angles on stronger areas of the map, while still remaining open enough to counter a Flag Capture or Bomb Plant/Disarm. The top-center of the map provides a great place to spawn neutral objectives like Oddball or the Neutral Bomb, and the moat around this structure gives a place to discard, should they run out of options.

The side carousels provide great Hill locations and are often difficult to hold without having map control prior to entry. Grenades and the Grenade launcher are therefore very powerful options in breaking these holds. The strongest of which, is top-green near the rocks. This power location is broken by several flanks, including a silent lift behind it. These combine to create a highly competitive experience that I'm very proud of.
